This moment........

Here is Pippin withstanding his daily combing with Anthony.  He is such a resigned martyr!  We have had this dog for 5 months and can't quite remember life without him.  Our beloved first mini schnauzer, Blue, had been gone for  three years before we got a second dog.  They are as different as they can be....just like children.

My first offering

yarn along........

This is most certainly a gloomy Wednesday morning!  But here is my offering for my first yarn along.  The knit work is a baby blanket for my daughter Rosemary.  Everyone here is looking forward to the arrival of our first grandchild.....little boy Callenberg!  The book is my Advent reading:  "The Reed of God" by Caryll Houselander.  I absolutely love it!  It involves living the Christ life in a hidden way.  Knowing what kind of vessel you are and of what material you made.  Houselander was a Catholic convert and she wrote during the second world war and after.  She was published by Sheed and Ward an old Catholic publishing house.  Blessings to all......

I am just crying with joy for Christine and Tom Smith over at Christine's blog spot.  God is so good to give them such an out pouring of His love and tender mercy.  How He holds them in His arms! (the blog spot is listed in the previous post)

Enjoyed the last Sunday Mass of advent with husband.
About to enjoy a good hot cup of coffee that said husband made after he had cooked lunch.
I am looking forward to Rosemary and Keith coming for Christmas.
Am a little concerned that my son Anthony is coming down with a cold.

Today is a day filled with straightening, laundry, dishes, Christmas cards, and secret shopping! :-D  Our demented cardinal is back at the window for the third year in a row.  He can see is reflection and thus throws himself at the kitchen window attacking the other bird there.  We have some pictures of it.  I will post them up if I can figure out how to do so.  Our schnauzer pippin is not sure what to think of it.  He likes to bark at the birds from the comfort of my lap.  He is ferocious behind a window or screen door!

Thursday

I am trying so hard to figure this whole blog thing out.  As I scout around, I find the most beautiful pages.  I gotta figure out how to do that!  My daughter of Rosemarys fancy ( her blog) may be up this weekend and she will most likely get me started.  I want to do yarn alongs and all kinds of different things.  Mostly, I really want to stay abreast of all this technology.  At 50, I am not so old that technology should pass me by.  My husband even has a blog that he routinely neglects.  I hope that as time goes on I won't be neglecting mine.  It may be a little bit boring right now but just wait until the old girl gets going!!!!

confusion

Okay, this is my first post as a blogger and I am completely confused!  The blog was originally titled under "evensongsjanuarylily" and the I changed it to "an old domestic goddess".  Both show up and I am not sure what to do?!!    And I still haven't filled out all my information about myself.   Perhaps my daughter can figure this out for me the next time she comes over. (she is an old hand at blogging)   So anyway, I have one follower and that is my dear spouse!  At this point, my goal is to simply conquer the technology involved here and be master and commander!!!!
